Now let’s talk more about this book for better general understanding. But the deeper I got into the book, the more I wish this will forever just be a fiction. If you’re like me, don’t get your hopes high on the magical adventure fantasy because being a bildungsroman, domestic fiction novel it is, I was also pretty taken-aback on how surreal and relatable A Little Life was to our daily lives when I first read it. It took my attention when I started joining #booktwt conversations on Twitter few months ago and there was this talk about the book A Little Life.
Although it’s consisted of 720 pages long filled with mixture of misery and warmth, A Little Life became the winner of The British Book Industry Award for Fiction in 2016 and had its days of being a best-selling. Hanya Yanagihara under Doubleday published this domestic fiction novel back in 2015, but the one that I’m reading is an edition published by Picador in 2016. A fair disclaimer: this book is not for everyone, especially ones with unstable mental condition.
Not a wise choice for that agenda, but definitely a remarkable awakening I must say. I was on my attempt to got back from a quite long reading slump when I decided to pick on A Little Life as my first coming-back-book.
